Inside Denmark's Most Brutal Gang: The LTF Story
New book exposes the violence behind Loyal To Familia, the first gang ever banned by Danish law
In October 2023, Danish author Carsten Norton published *Bandekrigerne fra Blågårds Plads: Historien om Loyal To Familia*, a 224-page investigation into one of Denmark's most violent criminal organizations. The book offers an unprecedented look at Loyal To Familia (LTF)—a gang that, by 2021, had become so dangerous that the Danish Supreme Court made it the first criminal organization ever officially banned under Danish law.
LTF was established in 2013 and quickly became a major player in Copenhagen's underworld. Based in and around the Blågårds Plads neighborhood, the gang operated under the leadership of Shuaib Khan, known on the streets as 'Shebi.' Other key figures mentioned in the organization included members identified as 'Store A,' 'Lille A,' 'Mo,' and Nadim Khan. What began as a street-level criminal enterprise evolved into something far more dangerous—a faction willing to wage all-out war against rivals.
The gang's reign coincided with what became known as the Bandekrigen (gang war), a period of intense, violent conflict that gripped Copenhagen and surrounding areas throughout the 2010s. LTF found itself at the center of this bloodshed, locked in brutal confrontations with multiple rival organizations. Their enemies included the Blågårds Plads-bande, VHK, Brothas, the notorious Hells Angels chapter, and Satudarah—each clash resulting in shootings, stabbings, and deaths that shocked the Danish public.
Norton's book, published by Politikens Forlag Nonfiktion, goes beyond surface-level reporting to expose the systematic brutality that defined LTF's operations. The title itself—*Bandekrigerne fra Blågårds Plads* (The Gang Warriors from Blågårds Plads)—promises an unflinching account of the violence that characterized the organization's decade-long existence.
The turning point came on September 1, 2021, when the Danish Supreme Court issued an unprecedented ruling: LTF became the first criminal gang in Danish history to be officially banned by law. This move represented a dramatic escalation in the country's response to organized crime. Rather than pursuing individual convictions, Danish authorities had concluded that the entire organization posed such a threat to public safety that its very existence needed to be criminalized.
