Music Producer D4vd Arrested in Death of 14-Year-Old Girl
David Anthony Burke faces murder charges after remains discovered in abandoned vehicle in Los Angeles
David Anthony Burke, a 21-year-old music producer known professionally as D4vd, was arrested on April 17, 2026, on suspicion of murdering 14-year-old Celeste Rivas Hernandez. Formal charges were filed by the Los Angeles County District Attorney on April 21, 2026.
According to court documents, Celeste was last seen at Burke's residence in Hollywood Hills on April 23, 2025. Prosecutors allege that her body was mutilated on May 5, 2025. Months later, in September 2025, her dismembered remains were discovered in the trunk of a Tesla registered to Burke after the vehicle was impounded at a Hollywood tow yard. An employee at the facility detected a foul odor emanating from the vehicle, leading to the grim discovery.
Burke faces multiple serious charges: first-degree murder with special circumstances, mutilating human remains, and continuous sexual abuse of a child under 14. The special circumstances allegations include lying in wait, financial gain, and murder of a witness. The District Attorney's office has indicated that a death penalty determination will be made at a later stage of proceedings.
At his initial court appearance, Burke pleaded not guilty to all charges. A preliminary hearing is scheduled for late April 2026, where prosecutors are expected to present evidence against him. The cause of death has not been officially released by authorities.
The case has drawn significant attention due to the victim's young age and the circumstances surrounding the discovery of her remains. Investigators have not disclosed details about the relationship between Burke and the victim or the circumstances that led to her presence at his home.
As of now, Burke remains in custody pending trial. The case continues to unfold through the California court system, with additional hearings and proceedings expected in the coming months.
