Utah Mother Convicted of Murder of Husband — Published Grief Book for Children
Kouri Richins fundet skyldig i at have forgiftet sin ægtefælle og efterfølgende manipuleret offentligheden med en børnebog om sorg
Quick Facts
Guilty of Spousal Murder
A jury in Utah has found 35-year-old Kouri Richins guilty of murdering her husband Eric Richins by giving him a lethal dose of fentanyl in March 2022. The case has attracted international attention due to the defendant's cold manipulation of those around her following the murder.
According to the prosecution, Kouri Richins served a cocktail containing five times the lethal dose of the potent opioid fentanyl to her husband, allegedly after the couple had celebrated a property purchase. Eric Richins was found dead in the couple's home in Kamas, Utah, the following morning.

Children's Book on Grief Masked Murder Plan
What makes the case particularly macabre is that Kouri Richins published a children's book titled "Are You With Me?" just months after her husband's death. The book was allegedly intended as a resource for children who had lost a parent and was promoted with Richins herself as the grieving widow who would help her three children through the loss.
The book was marketed in local media, and Richins appeared in interviews where she spoke movingly about the grief of losing her husband. Behind the facade, however, police were working to uncover what had actually happened.

Evidence Revealed Premeditated Murder
During the trial, prosecutors presented evidence that Kouri Richins had obtained fentanyl prior to the murder through an acquaintance. Phone records and messages documented her attempts to purchase the deadly substance in the months leading up to the killing.
Additionally, information emerged about financial motives. Eric Richins had substantial life insurance, and the couple allegedly had serious marital problems. Witnesses testified that Eric had expressed concern shortly before his death about becoming ill after drinking a beverage his wife had made for him.
