The real case
The real case behind the documentary shook the entire USA due to the eerie circumstances and the lengthy investigation process. For over five years, the identity of the man in the video, known as "Bridge Guy," remained a mystery to the police in Indiana. The investigation involved thousands of tips from the public and analyses of grainy images from Libby's phone. The breakthrough came in 2022 when the police turned their attention to the local pharmacy employee Richard Allen .
During the trial against Richard Allen, it was revealed that an unfired .40-caliber bullet found at the crime scene matched a gun owned by Allen. Additionally, evidence was presented of several confessions that Allen allegedly made to his wife and prison staff during his detention. In November 2024, Richard Allen was found guilty of both murders and sentenced to 130 years in prison. The documentary also highlights the controversial side of the case, where Allen's wife, Kathy Allen, continues to assert his innocence, which is also addressed in the sequel
