Hulu's New Delphi Docuseries Examines the Richard Allen Murder Trial
Two new streaming documentaries dive into the case of teenagers Abby Williams and Libby German, exploring whether Richard Allen is truly the Delphi killer.
Quick Facts
Two new Hulu documentary series are dissecting one of America's most scrutinized murder investigations: the case of Richard Allen and the deaths of teenagers Abby Williams and Libby German on the Monon High Bridge in Delphi, Indiana.
"IMPACT x Nightline: Who Is The Delphi Killer?" launched on Hulu in 2024, while "Capturing Their Killer: The Girls on the High Bridge," a three-part series, became available on August 5, 2025. Together, they offer viewers an inside look at the trial, the evidence, and lingering questions about whether police investigation fully captured the truth.
Richard Allen was convicted and sentenced to 130 years in prison for the murders. The case against him rested partly on video evidence from Libby German's cell phone, which captured footage of a man on the bridge—known as "Bridge Guy"—near the time of the killings. Voice comparison analysis also identified Allen's voice in audio clips related to the case.
What makes these documentaries particularly compelling is their access. Both series feature interviews with investigators, journalists, first responders, and friends and relatives of the victims. "Capturing Their Killer" includes exclusive behind-the-scenes video of defense attorneys during the verdict announcement—a rare glimpse into the legal machinery surrounding a high-profile conviction.
Perhaps most notably, Richard Allen's wife speaks publicly for the first time about their marriage and her perspective on the case. Her absence from Allen's sentencing had been noted by observers; now, through the docuseries, she shares her own account of events.
Yet both Hulu series pose a critical question: Is Richard Allen truly the Delphi killer, or did police miss something? This framing reflects ongoing speculation within true crime communities about whether other suspects may have been involved.
